Out with the old, in with the new


They say that some things needed to end and we are in this point of time that we need to say goodbye to 2018 and welcome 2019 with open arms whether we like it or not.

If you would notice, I haven't written anything as much for December as this month has been one of the hardest months for this year and I have to be honest, I was tested, mind, body, and soul but I'm very happy that I overcame it. I'm really happy and felt a sense of accomplished since for the past 2 years I was suffering from depression and 2018 has been good to me and helped me to overcome it. One by one. Little by little.

Even though 2018 brought huge storms that made me fell down into my knees. Oh, I can remember all my break down moments but just like what they have said: "There's a rainbow always after the rain" also, it made me become stronger to face newer challenges in life.

I can't wait to see what 2019 in store for me.

We're down to the last days of the year 2018. For some, they look forward to wrapping presents and celebrating Christmas, for me, I am looking forward to spending my 2019 with a bang! Which is fair enough to say that I have already prepared myself for the coming of 2019, well, I already have my planners ready though I haven't designed it yet it is fair enough to say that I'm heck ready for next year.

As a part of my traditional posting of my planners, I want to talk about this specific planner- in detail.


The Mercury Suki Day Book is a reward of Merucy Drug Store for its patron; the basis to acquire this planner is to accumulate a specific point (30 to 35 points) to redeem in exchange of this planner.

The planner right now comes in different colors, if I'm not mistaken, they have blue, yellow, red, and violet available. Talking about the color that I've got- blue, I would say that this is more on the royal blue side which is okay for my preference, most of the colors that they have (except for yellow) are bright, the yellow on one hand is quite dark-ish for my liking.

The material used in the cover was the same with last year, I am positive that the side of the cover will be ruined in just few weeks of using it just like what happened in this year's planner. Furthermore, the cover was I guess faux leather with cardboard to make it a little bit stiff. It has a garter that holds the pages of the book together but the thing is, now it binds one side which is new to me.



The layout of the planner is the same, monthlies first in a list layout and then a notebook style follows there after that is why this planner is perfect for my everyday blogging use. 2018's planner work perfectly with my daily needs for data jot down.






They still have different sections that tackles about health of the users which is quite useful, however, in this year, they don't have much activities and worksheets just like what they had for the year 2018.

To be honest, this is planner was in demand that is why whenever a branch announce that they have stocks available, it would be sold out in just a day. So if you are into getting this type of planner, well, it's better to watch out!

It's been 2 years since I poured by heart out in a blog post and now I'm going to do that again. I typically let my feelings hidden somewhere where people wouldn't know since I know they wouldn't understand. I tried to suppress these feelings contained yet for once, I decided to let it all out.

Food has always been my comfort food and I always eat, a lot whether it would be a healthy snack or fast food, I always make sure that I am equipped with enough food to alleviate my mood as what other people would say "Eat your feelings out".

This year I have been very addicted to eating ramen for the reason that my friends love noodles and even though some of the ramen houses nearby costs a fortune, I still tend to follow them through somehow but this time, I am very happy to experience a very affordable yet yummy authentic Japanese Ramen that recently purchased here in Fairview Terraces - Tomochan Ramen Express


History

Tomochan Ramen Express was founded by Akiko Okamoto with a vision to share what authentic Japanese delight to Filipinos and all over the world without spending so much money on quality and taste. She took a big step when she opened its first ever store located in Angeles City, Pampanga in July 2017. Since then her business flourished with other four flagship stores all over the Philippines.


Tomochan Ramen Express was considered as "Solid Friendship" with its two Japanese words "Tomo" and "Chan" combined. "Tomo" was derived from the word "Tomodachi" which the Japanese term for 'a friend' meanwhile "Chan" is typically used for 'miss/little children/close friends' Hence, Tomochan is a solid friendship that promotes love, loyalty, and dedication.

First Ever Experience

As I arrived there in the Food Choices at Ayala Terraces, I immediately saw the stall which is a positive impression for me since I am always looking for a restaurant that is accessible. I immediately noticed how clean their counter is and how organized their condiments section at the right side of the counter.


The staffs are very much courteous and assist me to order which ones would I like to taste. To be honest, I am very much impressed by how Tomochan provided 2 types of ramen: Tokyo Shoyu and Miso Basic with 4 different ramen on each category. Looking at them on the menu, it looks mouthwatering but I still opted for a Miso Special which is my favorite type of ramen. Also, they have Rice meals available they have Chicken Karage, Katsu and Gyoza. For me, I opt for Katsu.


The overall ambiance of the place is nothing spectacular since it is located in a food section of the mall wherein there are lots of stalls beside it but what's good is that you can easily see if your ramen is ready to be picked up and the counter is really spacious so that people will have a comfortable experience without the feeling of being queued up while waiting for your order.


As soon as I received my order I was surprised to see how big their serving is for the ramen. It is so worth it for 169 pesos. Meanwhile, the katsu's a little bit small for the cup of rice but I personally didn't mind since I didn't eat the rice during the moment.


Taste

The taste was amazing! It looks and tastes delicious I have nothing to say, the noodles are firm and the miso broth was spectacular although compared to other ramen houses that I've been in wherein they placed corn in the ramen, Tomochan doesn't have any corn but that's okay still I can taste the umami flavor and the miso combined! It tastes a little bit spicy for my liking but still, I was able to manage to finish the entire bowl.



For the Katsu, the meat was tender and juicy and it fits well with the Japanese mayo which is one of the basic element in Japanese cuisine. The rice was okay though I know that it's not the authentic Japanese rice still, I didn't mind is because the Katsu suits my liking really well.

Price

Just like what I have mentioned a while back Tomochan has 8 variety of ramens over all that ranges from 99 pesos to 169 pesos and for me, it's really worth it! This suits well for people who are on a tight budget but famished and really need to have an on-the-go ramen asap.


The Tomochan provided a 3 rice meal which is priced for only 79 pesos only. From my experience, it is just so-so I hope by the time I ordered Katsu again it would be bigger.


They also have 2 Set Meals available for everyone who would like to check out their menu which is perfect because of its affordability plus you get everything you would want to taste in their menu.

Overall

I highly recommend it to everyone especially those who love Japanese Ramen but on a tight budget. The service was very quick, courteous staff and the most important thing: you get your money's worth! Check them out!

Even though I 'm staying most of the time indoors, I still make sure that I protect my skin from the harmful rays of the sun. If you guys would know me personally, I am a sucker for some boybands no only because they are good looking but also their songs are extremely catchy, the last boy band that I was addicted to was One Direction and up until now, though they already disband, I still listen to their songs whenever I can.

With the uprising of the artists and media, more and more wants to share their love with music and we, Filipinos loves music, of course, we open all kinds of the genre all over the world. I must say, even though we loved Korean pop, still, the Western pop culture still overpowers our preference.

Recently, a boy band called "In Real Life" or IRL came all the way from America to share their music with us Filipino.



How they all started? 

They came from an American reality TV show music competition 'Boy Band' which premiered on June 22, 2017, on ABC and since then their career flourished with flying colors in the span of a year.

Who are they? 

The band is consist of five good-looking, talented named Brady Tutton, Chance Perez, Drew Ramos, Sergio Calderon, and Michael Conor.

The band experiments all types of the genre such as pop-rap, dance-pop, teen pop, and Latin pop. They said that they were influenced by several pop music icons of the different era such as The Back Street Boys, Boyz II Men, Jackson 5, Charlie Puth, Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendez, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith, Jay-Z, and Eminem.

The band won the ABC summer reality competition and debuted their first single "Eyes Closed" on the finale. Their debut became the top of the iTunes charts and reached #3 on Spotify's Global Viral Chart.



This November, the band will tour around in selected the SM Supermalls and capture the hearts of Pinoy with their music this would be their first ever Manila tour.

We all know that milk is an essential for kids from the time they were born until their body became stronger and their immune system becomes stable enough to fight for diseases on its own that is why we, as parents, we should put more emphasis on checking every little detail of what we give to our kids.

Aside from the claims of the products- that the product is equipped with essential nutrients, we also put emphasis on details such as nutritional values, ingredients, calorie counts, and even the sugar content.

According to Food Scientist, Dr. Lotis Francisco, milk labels provide the necessary information that would let us check and balance the ingredients and other nutritional facts of the milk.


Here are some few tips and tricks for every parent out there to ensure the quality of the milk that you offer to your kids.

1. Check the milk label

Did you know that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires labels on all prepackaged food? These labels would provide a complete list of all ingredients used as well as the nutritional information in the package. What's more, it should be readable.

We should make sure that whenever we read the label, the list is in descending order of portion: from most to least. This means that the first ingredient in the list is also the main component of the milk.

For PROMIL® Four, if you would notice that 'andthus' is their first component which is the preferred element for children over 3 years because it eliminates unnecessary fatty acids and keeps the other milk components like lactose.

2. Read the Nutritional Facts

Nutritional facts is a tabulated form that declares the protein, carbohydrates (including dietary fibers and sugars), fat (including saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol), sodium and the caloric content of the milk. Also, you can see Vitamin A, Iron, and Iodine, as well as other vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids are also included in the tabulation.

“All of these nutrients are expressed through the Recommended Energy and Nutrient Intake (RENI) of children, based on the guidelines of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI),” explained Dr. Francisco. “So, if the Protein Content in the milk indicates 30 percent, then, your child needs 70 percent more from other food sources to meet his or her daily RENI."

3. Learn about the sugar content

This is one of the most confusing parts when reading a nutritional label is the sugar content. Many have a misconception that when a milk has a high sugar content, it's not healthy to for kids.

Among the types of sugar added in formula milk include sucrose, also referred to as table sugar and starches. These are added to replace some or all of the lactose naturally found in milk. Given the case, Dr. Francisco noted that it is still better to check the type of sugar used in your child’s milk. For your child’s proper growth and mental development, PROMIL® Four is predominantly lactose with its non-fat milk as the main ingredient.

4. What are other things that parents should look for? 

To ensure that your child gets the essential and important nutrients for proper growth and mental development, it pays off to check if milk’s macronutrients—protein, fat, and carbohydrates—are at the right level for children over 3 years old.

I was born and raised in the outskirts of Quezon City and even though my city is a cosmopolitan city, I must say that there are pros and cons of living in here. One of the major drawbacks is the heavy traffic that I always encounter every time I was out and about. About the product 

The products have two types of cotton pads in one box which is perfect for different usage. There are two types of cotton: Compressed toning cotton which is perfect for clearing the skin texture and get rid of waste and dead skin cells. And the other one was the sponge cotton which is perfect for other products such as moisturizer since it doesn't absorb toners. It holds the toner and fills skin to absorb.

My thoughts and experience

The very first thing I felt amazed because this is the first time I heard and used a product that is Vegan and next, I was very excited to try a product that has essential oils furthermore, they have no colorants, parabens and artificial fragrances that is why I am very eager to try the products out. First and foremost, I really loved the packaging, you know it was very earthy and simple so for me, I am feeling that there's an eco-friendly product. Plus, the color used in its packaging is very interesting and keeps up with their eco-friendly vibe.

The first thing I tried was the Supple Preparation Toner, I immediately noticed that it was a little bit sticky than the typical toners I used on a daily basis I immediately tried it on the cotton pad and I was surprised that it deeply changed the color of my toner. The smell was a little different from me at first but then I tend to get used to the product which is perfect. Also, the toner is a perfect moisturizer and cleanser for my skin so whenever I use this, I don't need to add an additional moisturizer or if I do I just used a water-based moisturizer. I also love that it doesn't make my skin oily which is absolutely perfect.


Second is their Rich Moisture Soothing Serum. It has the same texture but it is more light than the toner. It doesn't have a strong scent that would irritate my nose which is perfect for me. I loved that the product immediately sets into my face immediately. I also noticed that my skin became really smooth after the product sets into my face. It deeply made my skin amazingly smooth and fresh.

However, I noticed that whenever I use the Supple Preparation Toner and Rich Moisture Soothing Serum all at once, it makes my skin produce more oil that is why when I decided to use the only the Supple Preparation Toner in the morning and use them both in the evening right before I go to bed and it definitely works wonders! Now, it's been a month of using these products and I am loving the effect on my skin.


The Cotton Pad, on the other hand, was also a good product but I wish that there's a product that only had the compressed toning cotton only because it really helped me to intensively clean my face and remove excess dirt and oil. However, the sponge cotton pad is okay but I don't think it will be essential for me since I typically apply my moisturizer on my skin all the time although I use the sponge cotton for toning, for me, the compressed cotton works wonders.


Overall Thoughts

It was an amazing skin regime experience. I am looking forward to restocking myself with the cotton pad since it works wonders. Also, I am aiming to see my self to use the toner for a long time.
